Pet Health Certificate – What is it all about?
When a lot of people start to get ready for their travels, they know pretty much everything that they have to bring including their passport. But what happens when someone wants to travel overseas and bring their pet, such as their dog, with them? With all of the fears about diseases and illnesses being spread from one country to another, there are now steps to make sure things such as animal viruses do not come with the pet. Instead of making it a rule that pets cannot travel with you, there have been rules set in place in order to protect everyone while still allowing your little one to enjoy some vacation time as well.
Things such as the pet health certificate are what make it possible for pets to travel overseas. Without the pet health certificate, more in likely, your little four legged friend will not be allowed to go and if you try to sneak them through without it, you could be looking at your pet being taken away and you being in a lot of trouble with the countries laws. So it is always best to play by the rules and obtain the proper pet health certificate as different countries can have different forms to use. If they do not have their own special form, then there is a form for a general pet health certificate.
On every pet health certificate there needs to be the name of the pet, along with its breed, color, age of the pet, and all of the owners information including name and address. The pet health certificate must also state that the pet is completely free from any and all parasites and that it is completely healthy. There should also be noted record of the inoculations that the pet has received over the years including what type they received and who the manufacturer was. Also, there must be record that the animal had received their rabies shots no more then twelve months before they were set to travel and at least more then thirty days ago.
A lot of the different countries do require that the certificate information that you fill out must be translated into their language in order to prevent any confusion when they are trying to read the pet health certificate. You can obtain most of these forms online and there is generally a small fee for getting one downloaded or sent to you. Also, make sure that you are researching the individual country you are going to in order to be in line with what their personal regulations are. Allow yourself plenty of time to have your pet health certificate filled out so that there are no problems when it comes time to travel.
