Why Keep Your Puppy's Health Records Online

If you moved to a new city and had to take you puppy to a new vet, would you be able to provide you new vet with all your puppy's health care records? If you took your pet was in an accident or suffered an illness while you were traveling, would you be able to provide an emergency animal hospital with your puppy's medical history? Do you know the names of all the vaccinations your puppy received at its last health examination? Can you prove that your puppy's vaccinations are all up to date?

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, you may need software that will help you keep your puppy's health record online. Online puppy health records are most effective when dogs have microchips implanted in them. If your dog is lost and gets taken to a vet, or if it visits a new vet, the veterinary clinic just scans your dog's microchip to access all of its online puppy health records.

Keep General Information Online For Your Puppy's Health Records - What kind of online information about your puppy's health records should be kept? Most programs advise starting out by putting general information online. This general information should include your, or another owner's, name, address, phone number, email address, and emergency contact information.

The records should also include information about your dog: Its name, breed, sex, weight, height, and any acute or chronic medical conditions for which your dog is being treated. Include information about your dog's identifying markings, its microchip, and registration number with local officials where you live. Finally, include general information about the veterinary clinic that usually treats your puppy – the name, address, telephone number, web site, and email address of your puppy's doctor.

What Your Puppy's Online Health Records Should Include - After entering all the general information about you, your dog, and your dog's veterinary clinic in your puppy's online health record information, go on to enter medical information about your pet so it can be accessible to anyone treating your dog.

What kind of dog food does your dog eat? Is he or she under any dietary restrictions? Does your puppy have allergies to any foods or substances?

Any temporary or ongoing medical conditions your pet suffers from should also be entered into your puppy's online health record. Include dates of treatment, a description of the treatment received, and any medications your puppy is taking.
